TOUR n. 24: NAPLES - POMPEII
 One of our English speaking driving guides will be at your hotel or pick up location with the luxury vehicle that you've selected to begin your tour of Naples.
Neapolis, whose name stems from the Greek language meaning new city, was first established at the base of the Vesuvius by colonial settlers from Greater Greece in the 5th century B.C.
 Located in a strategic position for the domination of the Mediterranean, in 290 B.C., Naples passed under the control of the Romans (who else?) and became an important cultural centre.
Nowadays Naples is still rich in history with buildings, churches and monuments dating back centuries.
During this tour you will be able to visit the National Museum which is the oldest and most important archaeological museum in Europe.
 It contains the archaeological material recovered from Pompeii and Herculaneum, Egyptian objects imported to Italy during the Roman period and other items of excellent prestige such as statues, bronzes, ancient coins, mosaics, mirrors and jewelery.
Then you will see the Royal Palace, the Piazza Plebiscito, the Piazza Municipio with its huge medieval castle the "Maschio Angioino" and the San Carlo Opera House and the historical centre.
Afterwards, we're off to Pompeii where overwhelmed by the eruption of the Vesuvius in the year 79 A.C. the city of Pompeii has for centuries captivated archaeologists from all over the world..
 Digging slowly and regularly since 1748 until the discovery of Temples, Theatres, homes completely fixed in their action when they were submerged by the volcanic flood.
The historians have now made the city completely returned to the light.
This will give you the best opportunity to discover the greatest witness of the way of life at the times of the Roman Empire.

- Comfortable walking shoes and sun hats are recommended.
- To completely enjoy your Pompeii tour we suggest hiring a Pompeii guide available at the entrance. Their rate is about 120 Euro for a 2 hour tour (not included).
- The vehicle and driver will be at your complete disposal for the entire duration of the tour.
- If you like, you can ask your driver to modify your tour in any way.
- The tour sequence may be changed to avoid traffic or demonstration congestions but will always cover the mentioned sites.
- Entrance fee to Pompeii ruins is 11 _.
- Pompeii is not wheel chair accessible
- If you would like to have lunch our driver can suggest a snack bar, restaurant or pizzeria. To avoid unpleasant surprises its always best to inform your driver on how much you would like to spend and the time involved
 Payments: All rates are quoted in EURO funds. Payment can be made in USD, Euro, Traveler's cheques or with Visa/MasterCard/American Express (add 5% for c/c). The fee for private guides MUST be paid in cash only (no Credit Cards).
Our rate includes a vehicle and English speaking driver-guide for the entire duration of this tour taxes, tolls, fuel and parking fees. It does not include private guides, entrance fees, gratuities or meals unless mentioned in our confirmation.
Our English speaking driver will give a general overview regarding the history of the sites and monuments while in the car before you enter. He will allow all the time you need to visit with NO RUSHING as in group tours.
