For example, our "Rome Major Highlights" tour is the perfect excursion for the visitor who is looking for an overview of this "City of Fountains." This tour will see you visiting St. Paul's Basilica, the Coliseum, the Palatine Hill, the Forum, Circus Maximus, the Pantheon and many more. We'll stop by the Trevi Fountain (make a wish!), the Navona and Venice plazas, the Spanish Steps, and more.
If you've never been to Vatican City -- or if you'd like to return -- consider our "Rome Major Highlights with Vatican" tour. Once you've visited the sites mentioned above, your tour will see you dining in an inexpensive Italian restaurant near the Vatican followed by a visit to the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel.
If you've visited Rome before, you may want to venture to its outskirts in our "Roman Hills and Castelgandolfo" tour. Our first stop will be the town of Grottaferrata, during which you'll visit the Abbey, founded in the 10th Century by St. Nilo. We'll then travel along the Via de Laghi ("the road of the lakes") to Nemi. The via winds up and down hills between the woods of Alban Hills. You'll enjoy some of the most breathtaking views of the area's villages and lakes. Our last stop will see us dining at a local trattoria for a typical Italian lunch in what we consider to be the most charming of charming small towns, Castelgandolfo.
We also offer personal tours to the Tivoli Gardens, the Catacombs and Hadrian's Villa, as well as to Orvieto/Assisi.
These tours last nine to 10 hours (depending on which tour you choose). Your English-fluent driver generally will meet you at your ship's gangway around 8 a.m. (unless other arrangements are made), and will bring you back to your ship with plenty of time to board your before she departs for other ports of call.
