This tour is designed for those that would like to visit other interesting towns outside Rome. We will begin with a drive towards the Region of Umbria through fields of vineyards and olive groves to the town of Civita di Bagnoregio. This town was founded over 2500 years ago built by the Etruscans. It was known as “the dying city” but in recent years it is experiencing a great touristic revival. We will visit the church of Saint Donato and the surrounding area. This church goes back to the 6th century . In the year 1695 due to the damage of an earthquake the diocese was transfered to the nearby area in Bagnoregio and a new church for Saint Donato was built. We will then head to the medieval hilltop town of Orvieto where can explore the streets of Orvieto from the Gothic Cathedral of St. Mary Assunta built in the 14th century dedicated to the Assumtion of the Virgin Mary. Then you can go on to visit St. Patrick’s well built in 1527 and finished in 1537 ordered by Pope Clemente VII who took refuge at Orvieto during the sack of Rome in 1527.
